 ABOUT FANNY

  • Fanny Henn is a Finnish-Swedish mezzo-soprano from Espoo, Finland. Henn received her Master’s degree in Opera from Sibelius Academy, as a part of their Opera ensemble (2021-2023 season). Her teacher was Monica Groop, and Henn ended her studies with excellent grades from her A-recital in spring 2024.

Fanny has a broad performance background from a young age. In addition to singing, she has obtained experience in acting and dancing, which makes her an expressive and agile performer. Henn first appeared on stage at the age of 14 in Ilkka Kuusisto's song play "Fjäriln Vingad" at the Svenska Teatern. Shortly afterwards she worked as a singer in the concept "Ilveilijäperhe" at Linnanmäki in Helsinki. She has also appeared in the musical My Fair Lady at the Oulu City Theatre, in Tapio Tuomela's opera Neljäntienristeys and in the chorus of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro at the Åbo Svenska Teater. Henn's most recent roles include 'Ottilie' in Benatzky’s operetta The White Horse Inn (Im weißen Rößl ), 'Ottone' in Monteverdi's opera The Coronation of Poppea, 'The Grand Duchess' in Berkeley's opera A Dinner Engagement, 'The Second Lady' in Mozart's The Magic Flute, 'Madama La Rose' and 'Madama Rosa' in Rossini's La Gazzetta and Donizetti's Il Campanello, and 'Girl 2' in P.H. Nordgren's The Black Monk.

As a concert soloist, Henn has performed with the Finnish Baroque Orchestra and the Helsinki Metropolitan Orchestra in the oratorios Messiah and Elijah. She made her television debut in December 2023 in the YLE’s program De vackraste julsångerna. Henn has received positive recognition from her performances. She was selected as the soloist of the 2023 Päivi and Paavo Lipponen Fund, and in 2024 she was one of the merit recipients of the Martin Wegelius Foundation. In the autumn of 2024 she was one of the soloists in Mozart’s Requiem with Suomen Laulu Choir and Helsinki Metropolitan Orchestra.
